Major Deal: Fashionista Readers Recieve 20% Off Chanel at DecadesTwo.1!

Posted: 03 Jan 2011 03:00 PM PST

Our friends at LA-based, upscale consignment boutique DecadesTwo.1 had a good year, and they want to celebrate by treating Fashionista readers to some Chanel!

From today, January 3, through January 15, readers receive an extra 20% off DecadesTwo1.com‘s expanded collection of Chanel consignment pieces, plus Chanel vintage from sister boutique Decades. (See that gorgeous dress at left? It’s Chanel haute couture, cherry-picked by Decades owner Cameron Silver.) Just use discount code CHA20 at checkout. More good news: It works for the entire site, just in case you see something that isn’t Chanel that you’ve got to have.

And if that wasn’t enough to tempt you, Decades2.1 is doing another Chanel event with flash sales site HauteLook January 4-6. You won’t be able to use your discount code, but we promise the markdowns will be deep. (Up to 60% off retail.)

Thanks to DecadesTwo.1′s Christos Garkinos and Cameron for hooking us up. Click through to see more of what’s on offer.

ASOS Spring 2011 Makes Us Real Happy They Launched a US Site

Posted: 03 Jan 2011 02:32 PM PST

Remember how obsessed you were with Topshop when it first landed stateside? This is how we feel about ASOS now.

When we stopped by ASOS’s spring 2011 preview last month we left all but drooling. Their collections for spring/summer hit on every trend you might want to try out when the temperatures rise without going over the top or looking cheap (even though the prices are super affordable). There are girly ’50s pleated frocks in soft blush tones, ’70s silhouettes in the way of maxis in bold matte colors, bright mod color blocked prints on dresses and cute printed separates like bralet tops and high waisted pleat-front trousers, cuffed just-so.

Take a look.

"I truly hate the word [eccentric]…I'm actually very grounded…Also, eccentrics are almost asexual, and that is not something you can say of me, by any means…What drives me now is the idea of something being against the world. I'm an artist, I suppose.”

Daphne Guinness to Guy Trebay in his profile of the heiress in the Times. She also told him she doesn’t read fashion magazines and that Scientific American is her “heaven.”

Seven Questions for Designer Kelly Bergin

Posted: 03 Jan 2011 01:22 PM PST

We’re kind of obsessed with LA fashion right now. Especially labels like Jenni Kayne, Band of Outsiders, McTega, and Wren. Add newbie Kelly Bergin into that mix. Her three-season-old collection is just the kind of thing we adore: It’s preppy and clean, yet a little bit beachy and sexy, perfect for the girl we’ve always wanted to be. What motivates this rising California star? We recently got to know Kelly a little bit better. See her answers to our seven questions–and a gallery of her Spring 2011 collection–after the jump.

It’s Almost Official: Elle to Hearst

Posted: 03 Jan 2011 09:56 AM PST

After rumors at the end of the year pinning the sale of Lagardère’s American magazine titles to Bauer Media, the publishers of Life & Style, Daily Front Row is reporting (via Bloomberg) that the the French publishing house plans on teaming up with Hearst instead. After all, rumors of a Hearst partnership have been circulating for almost a year, and we’ve heard that the rumor was pretty much confirmed to Lagardère’s US staffers in December.

Of course, this doesn’t indicate that it’s definitely going to happen–talks could break down–but it probably will. So what does this mean for Elle staffers?

Tamara Mellon Shows Off Her Cleavage To Sell Jimmy Choo’s First Fragrance

Posted: 03 Jan 2011 09:18 AM PST

After 15 years in the shoe biz, Jimmy Choo is launching its first fragrance, exclusively at Saks Fifth Avenue on Jan. 15. And co-founder Tamara Mellon is the chest, er, face of the scent.

The scent will simply be called Jimmy Choo. “We’ve transitioned into a lifestyle luxury brand, and it seemed like the next natural step for us,” Tamara Mellon, co-founder and chief creative officer of Jimmy Choo, told WWD at a London event to launch the fragrance. “Fragrance is such an important accessory for women — I think it will have a very broad reach. Our customer is every woman.”

The juice, three years in the making, was created by Olivier Polge of International Flavors & Fragrances, and it’s a fruity chypre with green top notes, as well as exotic tiger orchid, sweet toffee and Indonesian patchouli notes.

“Fragrance is something that’s very… personal,” said Mellon, to a room full of beauty editors at the New York launch event, where she revealed that her favorites as a teenager included Opium and Anaïs Anaïs. “I love the smell of green fresh notes, they’re in the top notes of our fragrance. I like things that are sensual, so that’s how we came in with the patchouli.”

Watch It: The Video of Tom Ford’s Super Exclusive Spring 2011 Show

Posted: 03 Jan 2011 07:27 AM PST

Even though images from Tom Ford’s über exclusive über-hyped spring show have been released (first in Harper’s Bazaar UK), and we’re starting to see the collection sweep covers and editorials–from Julia Restoin Roitfeld in V to Emily Blunt in that same blue fringed dress on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar UK–they can’t convey what it was like to be there like this footage from the actual star-studded show.

The show is set to Karen Elson’s “Pretty Babies” (she also walked in the show wearing that nearing-ubiquitous blue fringed dress). From Beyonce to Karlie Kloss to Lauren Hutton, all of Ford’s superstar models “werk” their looks to the fullest and the intimate fashion A-list crowd (including Julianne Moore’s adorable daughter Liv in the front row) seem to be enjoying the show immensely.
