Best Dressed: Camilla Belle in Victoria Beckham, Helen Mirren in Dolce and More

Posted: 22 Apr 2011 02:00 PM PDT

Post-Coachella madness, stars returned to their regular red carpet attire. This week we’re loving Camilla Belle’s Victoria Beckham and Helen Mirren can do no wrong in Dolce & Gabbana. Rachel Bilson looked pretty in pink in Chanel haute couture for the premiere of her Lagerfeld-directed shorts for Magnum ice cream, and Zoe Saldana and Eva Mendes kept it casual in printed day dress–Saldana in Isabel Marant and Mendes in Free People.

Could You Cut Your Shower Time Down to Three Minutes?

Posted: 22 Apr 2011 01:27 PM PDT

Earth Day is all about guilt, so here are some quick statistics for you: the average American uses 70 gallons of water in a 10-minute shower, but 34% of people polled think that a 10-minute shower only wastes 10 gallons of water. A bit of a disconnect there. (And in case you were wondering, 70 gallons is 1,120 eight ounce bottles of water.)

The Body Shop, one of the original eco-conscious brands, has issued the "Earth Lovers Three-Minute Shower Challenge" just in time for Earth Day. Yes, they want you to commit to taking three-minute showers. To help time yourself, the company suggests playing a three-minute song and trying to finish by the end. Or, you could always count to 180 slowly.

Could you do this?

Last Night’s Party: We All Scream for Ice Cream with Karl Lagerfeld and Rachel Bilson

Posted: 22 Apr 2011 12:28 PM PDT

Last night, more industry A-listers than we can count flocked to the IAC building on Manhattan’s west side–for dessert.

To clarify, when infamously diet-obsessed Kaiser Karl collaborates with an ice cream company, interest is piqued. There to celebrate the the Lagerfeld-directed series of short films promoting Magnum’s US debut (a brand of creamy frozen sweets quite popular across the Atlantic), celebs like Sky Ferreira and Kim Raver sipped chocolate-infused cocktails and mingled in the atrium. They were joined by some serious fashion bigwigs, from Anna Wintour and Patrick Demarchelier to designers Olivier Theyskens and the Costello Tagliapietra duo, as well as a flurry of models including Crystal Renn and Charlotte di Calypso.

As we enjoyed our cocoa-spiked prosecco, we were ushered into an adjacent hall for a few opening remarks from Tribeca Productions co-founder Jane Rosenthal. “I’ve basically been on a diet ever since learning we were teaming up with Magnum ice cream!” she laughed, introducing both Lagerfeld and Rachel Bilson, the star of the shorts. “Karl, you’re the rock star at this year’s festival,” Rosenthal said. With that, lights dimmed and the mini-flicks began. So what did we learn?

There will also be an audience Q&A, so we can pretty much guarantee your questions will be answered. (As long as it’s not, you know, super weird or inappropriate.)

We can’t wait to meet you and talk fashion! Here are the details again:

Quote of the Day: J.Crew Head Designer Marissa Webb Is “Crossing Her Finger” for Jenna Lyons

Posted: 22 Apr 2011 10:30 AM PDT

“I have all the respect in the world for Mickey and for Jenna. I have to say, Jenna and I are so close, and she is honestly my first true mentor–and I don't think many people can say they have that. We're so in sync, for her to take on that role [of CEO] I would be so happy for her, for J.Crew, for Mickey, for everyone. So crossing my fingers that that's what happens!”

–J.Crew head designer Marissa Webb responds to CEO Mickey Drexler’s suggestion (in a Bloomberg interview last week) that Jenna Lyons would be a good fit to succeed him at Wednesday’s CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund event.

Nothing Comes Between Kate Middleton and Her Calvins

Posted: 22 Apr 2011 08:58 AM PDT

While Kate Middleton was picking up summer dresses and silk blouses on her high street shopping spree the other day, she also picked up some lingerie. But not the Agent Provocateur super sexy wedding night kind. She bought some plain Calvin Klein bras–one in black one and one in boring. I mean nude. She also got a lacy thong on sale for just £3.90 and the Sun had the good taste to put a model in said thong “to give Prince William a sneak preview.”

Wasn’t that thoughtful of them? Click through to see this hilarious piece of “service journalism.” And the kinds of Calvin Klein bras Kate bought. They were a relative splurge for thifty Kate at £30 each.

Next up, we’ll be breathlessly reporting on Kate Middleton shopping for…socks! Not really, but sadly, maybe?
