Beach Beauty: A Dermatologist Clears Up a Few Things About SPF and “Natural” Sunscreens Posted: 19 Apr 2011 02:30 PM PDT Despite the fact that it's probably never going to be warm or sunny in New York City ever again, we're sure it must be spring somewhere out there in the world. And spring means sun. And sun means wrinkles and skin cancer (not to be negative or anything). We all know we should be using sunscreen, and we also know it's not one of the sexier beauty products out there. But talk to us in 20 years when all your friends are asking you for the name of your plastic surgeon. You can smugly say, "Sunscreen." Party Report: AllSaints and Mulberry Made Coachella More Fashion-y Than Ever Posted: 19 Apr 2011 02:00 PM PDT Coachella may be a music festival, but for many the real action happens outside the concert grounds at the handful of star-studded parties in and around Palm Springs. Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring Collection Lands 42 Covers Posted: 19 Apr 2011 01:15 PM PDT Prada’s spring collection is so vibrant and distinctive we couldn’t help but notice that it seemed to be on every magazine cover since January. The collection, in fact, can be seen on 48 glossy covers so far. But we figured Dolce & Gabbana’s spring collection was giving Prada a run for its money. And indeed they are. Dolce & Gabbana’s Sicilian wedding trousseau collection has landed 42 covers to date (that we’ve counted). Most notably, Emmanuelle Alt put Gisele in one of Dolce & Gabbana’s sheer white lace dresses for her first cover as EIC of Vogue Paris. It was the same dress that graced covers of Vogue Spain and Vogue Germany. So if you’re keeping score that’s: Prada, 48; Dolce & Gabbana, 42. Gucci’s up next. Take a look. Dolce & Gabbana has racked up an impressive tally of Vogue covers, and Elle seems to love the collection too. What are your favorites? Posted: 19 Apr 2011 10:12 AM PDT Gianfranco Ferré Cleans House: Gianfranco Ferré's new owners, Paris Group, sacked creative directors Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi. No word yet on who the replacement(s) will be. An anonymous retailer told WWD that there wasn't enough to buy and that evening wear was too "fairy-tale-like." {WWD, subscription required} Tom Ford Portrayed as a Frequently Driven Used Car: Boy, if Tom Ford was pissed that Mr.Porter employed some guy named Tom Ford to send emails, imagine how livid he's going to be when he sees himself in Dale Wurfel's used car ad. Ad copy: "You know you're not the first, but do you really care?" Better hire a lawyer, Mr.Wurfel. {copyranter} Karl Lagerfeld Is Making a Fragrance That Smells Like Books: Karl apparently loves books so much that he wants us to smell like one. His new fragrance, Paper Passion, will contain a "fatty nuance" that supposedly evokes paper. Definitely check out Bella Sugar's slideshow showcasing the fact that Karl wasn't the first one to think of the books-as-scent idea. {BellaSugar} Follow Fashionista on Twitter or become a fan on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
