Transsexual model Lea. T‘s supermodel star keeps rising. The Brazilian model has cornered the high fashion market landing editorials in Vogue Paris, walking for Givenchy, covering LOVE magazine (liplocked with Kate Moss as well as a solo cover), and now her success has gone mainstream. Lea T. became a household name following a compelling appearance on Oprah, and now she’s landed a swimwear campaign for one of Brazil’s biggest swimwear lines.

Made in Brazil blog captured none other than Terry Richardson shooting Lea T. and a bevy of male models for Brazilian swim label Blue Man at the beach in Ipanema. Lea T. will also walk in the Blue Man show tomorrow at Fashion Rio, marking her first runway appearance in swim. To our knowledge, it’s the first time a transgendered model has featured in a major swim campaign.

Old Navy’s Gay Pride T-Shirts Go on Sale This Wednesday

Posted: 30 May 2011 10:12 AM PDT

Remember those crappy Fourth of July t-shirts Old Navy used to sell every year? (They may still do it, who knows….) Well, the retailer is taking the idea of a commemorative shirt in a more progressive direction with a collection of gay pride-themed T-shirts for men, women, and babies. The best news: 10% of the proceeds go to the It Gets Better Project, a campaign launched by writer Dan Savage that aims to help gay kids get through those beyond difficult teenage years by showing them videos that capture the lives of gay adults who made it. The site’s slogan reads: “Many LGBT youth can’t picture what their lives might be like as openly gay adults. They can’t imagine a future for themselves. So let’s show them what our lives are like, let’s show them what the future may hold in store for them.”

Want to support this great cause? Go to Oldnavy.com on Wednesday and order a t-shirt. Or visit Itgetsbetter.org to make a donation.

Thanks to a grand endorsement from Carine Roifeld, Hakaan Yildirim was already a name to know when he received France’s prestigious ANDAM award in 2010. "We're in Harvey Nichols, Colette, Opening Ceremony–it's nearly 26 stockists internationally!" he told Fashionista at the awards ceremony in Paris last October.

Now it’s time for another up-and-comer to take advantage of the prize, i.e. €220,000, a mentorship with former Chloe chief exec Ralph Toledano, and the chance to show at Paris Fashion Week. This year’s nominees include Jeremy Laing, Adam Kimmel, Anthony Vaccarello, Commuun, Matthew Harding, and Yiqing Yin. The judges? Pierre Berge, Hillary Alexander, Emmanuelle Alt, Nicole Phelps, Sarah Lerfel from Colette, and Humberto Leon from Opening Ceremony, to name a few.
