Dree Hemingway Whispers in Justin Bieber’s Ear For His New Perfume Campaign (Plus the Commercial Is Out)

Here is the Terry Richardson-shot campaign for Justin Bieber’s highly anticipated new fragrance, Someday. The campaign co-stars Dree Hemingway (let’s be honest, she’s more like a supporting actress here) and it somehow manages to position her as something of a cougar. Hemingway is only 25 but the Biebs is just 17, and in this shot, she looks like she wants to take a bite out of him. Think it will go over well with the Beliebers?

Bieber’s camp has also created a YouTube channel for the fragrance, which currently features the commercial for the fragrance and a behind-the-scenes making-of clip. Hemingway only stars in the print campaign–a girl who seems a bit closer in age to Bieber stars in the commercial, though she could be Heminway’s little sister. Apparently, spritzing on some eau de Bieber is transporting–Bieber appears like in a dream and frolics with the wearer in the clouds.

The 10 Best Tumblrs By Fashion Industry Insiders

Tumblr can be a little daunting for those don’t “tumbl,” especially when it comes to navigating the myriad of fashion-related ones.

There are a lot of decent tumblrs out there devoted to fashion, but after awhile they all start to blend together in a sea of pretty pictures. Luckily, there are quite a few industry insiders whose access to the industry lends itself to smartly styled pages, valuable tips and insights, and, of course, very pretty pictures. Here our are favorite tumblrs run by folks within the fashion industry–they range from models to editors to PRs to photographers but they’re all, clearly, ahead of the game when it comes to social media.

Catching Up With Caudalie: Its Latest Eye Cream and a Sneak Peek at What’s Launching This Summer

Any skin care line that's inspired by wine and vineyards automatically gets a vote of confidence from us. It gets another one when facialists and dermatologists alike rave about it, which they have been doing since Caudalie launched in 1995.

We took a long overdue trip to the Caudalie Vinotherapie Spa at the Plaza here in NYC. Mathilde and Bertrand Thomas, the brand's founders and new transplants to New York City, greeted us warmly with smiles and an immediate glass of wine, which we didn't turn down despite the fact that we were working. (It would have been rude, right?)

In today’s collab-happy times, joint ventures (particularly on the high street) are a dime a dozen. But when we learned that legendary animator Matt Groening, the man behind both The Simpsons and the late-70s comic strip Life in Hell, was launching a capsule line with Comme des Garçons, we were intrigued.

While the fashion flock boasts some interesting characters, to be sure, cartoons and couture have seemingly little in common. Turns out, however, that Groening was quite familiar with Rei Kawakubo‘s avant-garde designs long before the pair partnered up.

Manolo Blahnik: I’m Still Trying to ‘Make It’

SAVANNAH–Good designers may have flashes of brilliance, but legendary designers marry that inborn talent with a great deal of hard work. And in Manolo Blahnik‘s case, more modesty than one would expect.

On Saturday, just hours before its top 25 senior fashion collections were shown to students, press, and industry insiders alike, the Savannah College of Art and Design hosted a chat with shoe king Blahnik and his good friend (and SCAD board member) Andre Leon Talley, moderated by Eric Wilson from the New York Times.

Blahnik, who was honored with the André Leon Talley Lifetime Achievement Award at the SCAD senior fashion show later that evening, did a bit of reminiscing with Talley about Bianca Jagger, Fire Island, and Sophia Loren’s feet. But his answers to Wilson’s questions about the industry weren’t as cookie cutter as one might expect from such an established name. “I’m still trying to make it,” he said off-offhandedly at one moment.

Stylist Sally Lyndley Needs Art, PR/Social Media and Styling Interns in NYC and L.A.!

Sally Lyndley, stylist and and Fashionista contributor, is building a new team of interns in New York City and Los Angeles, and a virtual intern team to work on Research and Market Editing via the Internet. The intern teams will be working with Sally and her full time teams on both coasts. During the internship, they are committed to teaching the teams as much about the practice of styling and the fashion industry as possible. In return, they ask for teamwork from interns to help Sally prepare shoots, consultancy projects and runway shows.

Sixteen-Year-Old Nayasha Matonhodze is the New Face of Louis Vuitton: The model is one of six up-and-comers shot by Steven Meisel in a Rolls Royce for the Autumn/Winter 2011 ad campaign, ironically featuring a Rolls Royce that Matonhodze is just barely old enough to drive. Do I predict the next Chanel Iman? {Telegraph}

Queen Latifah Does HSN: The actress and spokeswoman will partner with the Home Shopping Network to create a line of moderately-priced clothing and accessories called Queen, debuting in August. It’s friendly to all body types, but don’t you dare call it plus-sized; Latifah wants to “bury that word – this is for all sizes”. {WWD (subscription required)}

Anthropologie Joins Tumblr: The lifestyle brand will launch Etymologie today, a site dedicated to wordplay and creative self-expression. It will base posts around a weekly word, which staffers will interpret their own way with photos, videos, blurbs, etc. They’re going for that whole intellectual angle. {Etymologie}

Textbook for Fashionista: Elsa Schiaparelli

Fans of the Tumblr blog Textbook, take note: Fashionista has teamed up with the blog's mastermind, John Jannuzzi, to create storyboards for our industry's style stars. (See an archive of his work for us here.)

Back in the day, there were two women designers causing quite a stir at about the same time. One of them, easily a household name, was Coco Chanel and I think we all know how that turned out. The other is slightly more elusive, but equally as important to the industry. Her name was Elsa Schiaparelli and to say she had a flare for the dramatic is most definitely an understatement. While Ms. Chanel was freeing women from antiquated silhouettes, Elsa was making us look at fashion with a different lens–a surreal lens. She’s most known for teaming up with artists like Salvador Dalí: Consider it like the first version of the H&M collabs. Aside from rubbing elbows with some of the finest surrealists, she had a flair for innovation–to Elsa, a shoe could be a hat, a lobster was a perfect addition to a dress and a bow could be just as pretty if it were simply an illusion. So let’s give it up for master of pattern, print and all things hot pink, Elsa Schiaparelli.

The Financial Times has a nice juicy profile of Carine Roitfeld out. Carola Long, the FT‘s deputy style editor, got to have decadent three hour lunch with the former Vogue Paris EIC at one of her favorite Russian restaurants in Paris (she ordered the herring). Over the course of those three hours, Roitfeld dishes on her new freelance life, leaving Vogue Paris, her booze preferences, the thing hates most in fashion, and the sorry state of runway shows today.

Pat McGrath Introduces Dolce & Gabbana’s Fierce Summer Beauty Collections, Gives Us Tons of Makeup Advice

There are very few things that can make me blow off my Saturday morning kickboxing class (Omar teaches it. Omar is hot.) Pat McGrath demonstrating Dolce & Gabbana's summer makeup line at Saks was an exception, so instead of pretending to kick someone's ass this past Saturday morning, I drank coffee and watched the makeup master work her magic.

Dolce & Gabbana introduced two lines for summer, with two distinctly different feelings that are nonetheless compatible.
