Louis Vuitton’s Fall Campaign Will Win You Over With Adorable Puppies

Louis Vuitton’s fall show may have been all about fetish, but the fall print campaign, revealed today in WWD, is a bit lighter and less twisted. It’s even cute. Why? Japanese spaniels, that’s why.

These adorable black and white doggies give the campaign’s stars–Zuzanna Bijoch, Daphne Groeneveld, Gertrud Hegelund, Nyasha Matonhodze, Anaïs Pouliot and Fei Fei Sun–a run for their money. And apparently these pedigreed pooches competed for the coveted gig just like the models. According to WWD, “dozens of canine hopefuls turned out for the casting, with only seven pedigreed pairs making the cut.”

The campaign was photographed by Steven Meisel, styled by Karl Templer, and is set to break in August glossies.

Check out the rest of the campaign.

The Other Beckham Launches His Own Line (Read: More David Beckham Underwear Ads To Look Forward To)

Posted: 19 May 2011 06:30 AM PDT

The Beckhams are already at the top of the earnings food chain, and now they're poised to go even further. While he already has two fragrances with Coty, David Beckham is launching a third in September called Homme by David Beckham.

And now he's taking it further than just fragrances–Beckham's going to be a full-on lifestyle brand. He and his business partner, Simon Fuller (of American Idol and Spice Girls-producing fame), have an empire in mind. "David and I have a number of ambitious and exciting ideas in development across a broad range of categories,” Fuller told WWD. “The next 10 years will see David evolve into being recognized, not just as an iconic sports figure, but also as an important entrepreneur." Beckham recognizes that his career is winding down, though he says he plans to play soccer for a few more years.

In addition to the fragrance, Beckham's next launch is a men's bodywear line.

Looking Good Is The Best Revenge: 11 Famous Jilted Exes Who Got Even By Looking Hot

Posted: 18 May 2011 03:46 PM PDT

Maria Shriver is going through hell this week. But somehow, even as news of her soon-to-be-ex-husband Arnold Schwarzenegger’s affair and love child with one of their staffers broke, she managed to put on a brave face, sexy blue sequined dress and inject some serious volume into her hair for an appearance at her buddy Oprah’s celeb-filled farewell spectacular in Chicago yesterday.

It’s hard to imagine how she pulled it together for such a public appearance amidst the media onslaught about the torrid demise of her marriage. But here are some women–politicians’ wives and celebrities alike, who probably can imagine what Shriver is going through. They all weathered incredibly messy and public splits and through it all they held their heads high and managed to look fantastic. Take a look:

Somaly Mam’s Incredible Cause Brings Seth Meyers and a Bunch of Model UN-Loving Fashionistas to the Bowery Hotel

Posted: 18 May 2011 02:20 PM PDT

Last evening's Somaly Mam Foundation event answered the prayers of a rare breed of geek: the Model UN-er cum fashionista. Yes I can confirm they exist as my glued-to-CSPAN self is one of them, and what better way to entice such an odd hybrid than with certified hot nerd host, Seth Myers.

When Lauren asked me to cover this event I essentially jumped out of my seat, "I'm a former Model UN nerd!" I exclaimed via email, "Ha, i did Model UN, too!" she replied. [Ed note: Leah did Model UN too. Is this a trend?] It was then I realized that there must be more geeks like us, and decided to pull some investigative maneuvers at last evening's soiree to find them.

Adventures in Copyright: Chris Benz is Jeffrey Campbell’s Latest Victim

Posted: 18 May 2011 01:50 PM PDT

We were just tipped off that someone–namely, frequent AIC offender Jeffrey Campbell–has ripped off those ingenious Alejandro Ingelmo for Chris Benz woven wedges. The original is a classic tawny style–perfect for floor-skimming trousers and dresses–and retails for $795. Apparently Jeffrey Campbell thought they were perfect, too, and made an identical shoe for $148. Aside from being a semi-hideous orange mustard color, the copy is also really awkward looking, with a thicker strap and a square top. Where the original is elegant, this one is just… cheaper, and not in the awesome, I-just-scored-a-sweet-deal way.

For more than $600 less, the knockoff is definitely more affordable, but is it really worth $150?

Last Night’s Party: Tracy Anderson on Biceps, Butts and Why Gwyneth Once Lacked Rhythm

Posted: 18 May 2011 01:07 PM PDT

With this week’s onslaught of gloomy drizzle putting our thrice-weekly power walks around Central Park on hold, it felt like a cruel joke when we learned that fitness guru Tracy Anderson would be co-hosting a cocktail fête at Juicy Couture‘s showroom. To paraphrase Tai Frasier, “our buns, they don’t feel nothin’ like steel.”

Anderson’s behind the intimidatingly sculpted physiques of some of Hollywood’s finest (Madonna and Gwyneth, anyone?) and the invite stated that she’d share her bikini-season tips with us not-so-athletic attendees. Amongst a slew of St. Tropez-inspired summer looks, from striped maxi dresses to broad-brimmed straw hats to charm bracelets and oversize sunglasses in cheery rainbow hues, we sipped low-cal drinks with The Glamourai‘s Kelly Framel, Runway Hippie‘s Sonia Evers, and a bunch of other fellow bloggers. The evening’s tequila cocktail of choice, combining cayenne pepper and lime, sounded oddly Master Cleanse-esque at first, but proved refreshingly delish.

Botox Mom is Really Sorry About What She Did and Wants Her Daughter Back Now, Please

Posted: 18 May 2011 12:47 PM PDT

Botox Mom Kerry Campbell's story keeps getting sketchier. Just to catch you up on the details so far: She told the Sun back in March that she injects her eight-year-old daughter with Botox so that she'll become a star. Last week she appeared on Good Morning, America and allowed her daughter to be interviewed; the girl admitted that, yes, the injections hurt. Then a San Francisco paper reported that the woman's name might not even be Kerry Campbell, nor does she live in the Bay Area. But supposedly officials had taken her daughter, Britney, away from her.

Now she's popped back up in the Sun again, apologizing profusely and "wailing." She told the Sun, “I am going to seek therapy for my obsession with looks so I will no longer push my insecurities about appearance on to her.” She explained that she never wanted to hurt Britney and thought she was helping her.

Fashion News Roundup: Real Housewives‘ Danielle Is Now a Stripper, Tilda Swinton With a Bowl Cut, and Images From Iris Apfel’s Jewelry Line

Posted: 18 May 2011 11:49 AM PDT

Peek Iris Apfel’s Jewlery Line for HSN: The inimitable icon of everything accessories is having a moment (though, honestly, when isn’t she?). Recent news of an upcoming jewelery line with HSN is now supported by a few choice pics, resplendent with all the great costume-y kitsch you’d expect. Clear space around your neck accordingly. {Racked}

Danielle from Real Housewives NJ Becomes a Stripper: Ultimate LOL! After her contract was not renewed for next season, 48-year-old Danielle Staubs has signed a three-year contract with a New York gentlemen’s club where she will give one live, fully nude performance and pose for the club’s website. Bravo: the real gateway drug. {Daily Mail}

Yohji Yamamoto Reflects on Life and Ideals: Adidas produced a 30 minute documentary, “Yohji Yamamoto: This Is My Dream,” as a semi-promotional tool but probably wasn’t expecting it to be quite so, well, good. The doc chronicles the month leading up to the Y-3 show at New York Fashion Week and the designer is surprisingly open about his personal life and creative processes, commenting on his desire to simply “cut clothes” and remain outside of the vicious trend cycle. {WWD}

Is Weekly Pilates REALLY Why Pippa Middleton Has Such a Great Ass? (Plus, There’s a Surgical Procedure Named After Her)

Posted: 18 May 2011 09:49 AM PDT

While no paparazzi have managed to break through Kate and William's Fortress of Solitude in the Seychelles to show us pictures of her in high street sundresses and bikinis, at least Pippa is still out and about. And she's even talking now! Well, sort of.

According to the Daily Mail, Pippa left a testimonial message on her London Pilates studio's website. In it, she calls the workout a "weekly necessity that keeps me fit, happy, and energized." Much has been made of this, and the media has trumpeted that this is the secret behind Pippa's great butt. We were skeptical that a weekly Pilates session was enough to get that body.

The Brazilian Blowout Is One Step Closer To Extinction: US Congress Is Asking the FDA To Get Involved

Posted: 18 May 2011 09:00 AM PDT

Brazilian Blowout, the beleaguered hair straightening company, is under attack yet again, this time by the US Congress. Ten members of Congress sent a letter to the FDA asking the agency to issue a voluntary recall for Brazilian Blowout products and "other brands that have high levels of formaldehyde based on testing information already available."

In the letter, the US Congressional members point out that formaldehyde-based straightening treatments have already been banned in six countries. The letter states:

It is clear that the FDA needs to take decisive action. An investigation by the Environmental Working Group revealed that FDA has received 47 complaints from salon workers and clients who experience adverse reactions and injuries (including hair loss, blisters, burning eyes, noses and throats headaches and vomiting) as the result of giving or receiving hair straightening treatments.

An FDA spokesperson told the Wall Street Journal, "We're still evaluating the data on these straighteners."

My Latest Obsession: Neon

Posted: 18 May 2011 08:30 AM PDT

I’d say I’m a pretty neutral dresser. My wardrobe consists of mostly black, navy, and grey. If I’m feeling down right nutty, I’ll mix in some red or salmon or blush. But in general, I don’t do lots of color. Jewel tones are not my thing.

Yet when it comes to shocking neon–my favorites being highlighter yellow and fluorescent red–I just can’t help myself.

Take these Karen Walker Number 1 sunnies. Now, I already own some CW shades in a very respectable tortoise shell. But that yellow edging has me pulling out my Amex.

Same thing goes for Cambridge Satchel company’s selection of seemingly glo-in-the-dark bags. Pink? Green? Yellow? Orange? I want them all.

Why the change of heart? Well, I still love my neutrals, but there’s something so visually jarring/stunning about a shocking color against a blank canvas.

Luckily, some of my favorite runway designers have appealed to my bright bomb obsession. From Christopher Kane to Proenza Schouler to Joseph Altuzarra to Miu Miu, I could literally restock my wardrobe with insanely colorful items from lacy cardigans to strappy mary janes.

But for now, I’ll stick with just a few pieces. It’s just a matter of deciding which ones….

Kate Moss on Kate Middleton and Her New Collaboration With Terry Richardson For Mango

Posted: 18 May 2011 08:00 AM PDT

There’s no telling whether Kate Moss has seen the “There’s Only One Kate In London” meme (we’d like to think that she has, and likes it) but she did offer her thoughts on the other Kate in a very funny interview with the Telegraph.

The Telegraph‘s Bryony Gordon got the chance to talk to the usually reticent Kate Moss at a press event for Mango. While the nature of Moss’ partnership with Mango was unclear at the time of the interview (was she doing a collaboration with Mango, a la Topshop? Gordon mused), a release out today reveals that the Spanish mass retailer partnered with the supermodel and Terry Richardson to produce a special video that aired before the Mango’s fall show last night in Paris. (The video hasn’t yet been released so that us regular folks who didn’t get to attend the show can see what all the fuss was about but we’ll post it as soon as it’s out.)

Gordon, nervous to meet and talk to Kate Moss (she calls her “most famous British woman on the planet bar the Queen and the Duchess of Cambridge”), hilariously brings some jam and cigarettes as gifts to soften her up (Kate makes jam, remember?). I think it worked. Here are the highlights:

The Fluoro Ball Was Kind of Like Prom Night For Fashion’s Scenesters

Posted: 18 May 2011 07:29 AM PDT

The Museum of Art and Design played host to Monday night's Rare Earth's Fluorescent Ball, and dare we say it was a full on fashion prom complete with art nerds, wannabes, music geeks, and those ever-present popular kids. Throw in some fluoro outfits, (some good, some bad) and you have a Prosecco-filled Monday evening that certainly boggled Tyson Beckford's mind. We spotted him observing the room from its sidelines with puzzled awe.

Although the evening's weather wasn't up to par, energetic DJ sets by scenesters like Paul Sevigny and Chrissie Miller certainly lightened everyone’s mood, especially the cork-wedge clad group of (probable) financiers whose bump-its and fist-pumping skills proved to be an unlikely start to a wild dance party.
The event served as the museum's young patrons gala with a sale of one-off fluorescent works including a light-up noose—any takers? Always Mister Popular, Paper‘s Luigi Tadini favored the video installations on display, "its always nice to see movement," he attested. Aesthetic technician and designer Christian Cota–there to co-chair and cheer on contributing artist friend Anne Grauso–said, "You need light to make fluorescent come alive, it doesn't always work with fashion." Rather fitting as this was evident in a few choice attendees' ensembles, though we won't single out offenders.
