The Business of Anna Wintour, Starring Harvey Weinstein, Bernard Arnault, Marc Jacobs, and More Posted: 25 Mar 2011 05:00 AM PDT Last night, we read the WSJ. profile on Anna Wintour with great interest. While there isn’t anything officially startling in the article, there are some nuggets that deserve a bit of chatter: Follow Fashionista on Twitter or become a fan on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Posted: 24 Mar 2011 08:21 PM PDT Snowflakes and slushy streets didn't put a damper on festivities as Rebecca Taylor welcomed party goers to her newest boutique on Wednesday night. While the plummeting temperatures called for snow boots and parkas, Taylor fans opted to don their favorite spring looks at the designer’s Meatpacking District outpost. Selita Ebanks chose a polka dot skirt paired with a floral tank, 30 Rock‘s Katrina Bowden wore a floral jumper, and we even spotted a certain Gossip Girl in a floppy sunhat. (Tika Sumpter, to be exact.) The space reflects Taylor's flirty ensembles. From the ornate ceiling moldings to the cast-resin furniture complete with a touch of burnished gold, it's easy to see that the designer played a big role bringing the store to fruition. "I've been 100% hands on with this project," said Taylor as she took a break from greeting guests. "I've been here all day working on everything including the flower arrangements! I'm a little bit of a freak like that," she admitted. Of course, she did have the help of APALondon, a design firm that has also worked with the likes of Stella McCartney and Adidas to create unique store layouts. Posted: 24 Mar 2011 03:00 PM PDT The sunglasses that went down the spring runways were anything but boring. Labels like Prada, Dior, and Jil Sander showed colorful, eccentric shades that were out of this world. We’ve rounded up a mix of cool cat eye, retro, and ’60s-style sunnies that anyone can pull off as things brighten up. Is Dakota Fanning the Face of Marc Jacob’s New “Oh Lola” Fragrance? Posted: 24 Mar 2011 02:47 PM PDT Some photos just surfaced on The Fashion Spot featuring Dakota Fanning for a new Marc Jacob‘s fragrance called “Oh Lola.” The campaign was shot by Juergen Teller, of course, who shot the elder Fanning sister‘s first campaign for Marc Jacobs spring 2007 when she was 13. The photos are gorgeous, and more than a little provocative. Dakota Fanning is 17 now, a bit older than her last Marc Jacob’s campaign, so I guess that makes it more OK to pose with a flower-shaped perfume bottle in one’s crotch? We can’t be sure these photos are legit, but they do look it (despite the fact that they originally came from some creepy tumblr called “teenstarlets”). We’ve reached out to Marc Jacobs for confirmation and will update when we have word. Congrats to Rachel Zoe and Rodge on Skyler Morrison Berman, Their New Bundle of Joy Posted: 24 Mar 2011 01:39 PM PDT And baby makes three. Rachel Zoe has officially welcomed her first child, Skyler Morrison Berman, into the world. “Mom and Dad ‘LITERALLY’ could not be happier or more in love with their son!” the couple said in a statement to People. And now that we know the baby boy is safe and sound, it’s time to dress him up. May we suggest this ensemble? Sylvester Stallone Is Launching a Full Line of Menswear. It’s True! Posted: 24 Mar 2011 11:45 AM PDT We've seen many celebrities launch clothing lines to varying degrees of success, but this morning Men’s Week dropped a shocker: Sly Stallone is launching a men's "lifestyle" line. I had to make sure I wasn't reading The Onion. Follow Fashionista on Twitter or become a fan on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Ten Questions for America’s Next Top Model, Cycle 16 Posted: 24 Mar 2011 11:00 AM PDT 1. Alexandria describes herself as “a positive artistic California girl.” I guess it could be just good editing that’s making Alexandria come off so badly, but doesn’t she sound delusional? 2. Is anyone else starting to feel really bad for Molly and that horrible horrible weave? Which is now giving her a rash? I am. 3. I know Sutan is not on ANTM because he’s killing it as Raja on RuPaul’s Drag Race (if you’re not watching it already you need to start) but could he come back? I miss him and don’t like new makeup artist guy Vincent as much. 4. Isn’t Monique a great director? A three-way kiss will surely tame Alexandria’s attitude (or make for some good TV). No but for real, she good. 5. Can we agree it is never OK to read someone’s diary? Ahem, Monique. Even if Alexandria is a major B it’s still wrong. 6. Can Murato the baby jaguar win ANTM? He is fieeeerce. Follow Fashionista on Twitter or become a fan on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Posted: 24 Mar 2011 10:08 AM PDT Dov Charney Strikes Again: For the second time this month, Charney, American Apparel’s CEO, is being sued for sexual harassment. This time, a 19 year old former employee claims that she went to his home to discuss future job opportunities and Charney undressed her then forced her to perform sexual acts. Charney, of course, denies the claims. {NY Times} Kate and Naomi Set the Record Straight: A new website allows celebrities to correct false information written about them in the press called ICorrect. Kate Moss writes that any Twitter of Facebook account bearing her name are imposters and Naomi Campbell explains a controversial comment she made about the location of the 2018 World Cup. Other participants on the site include Sienna Miller and Tommy Hilfiger. {Vogue UK} For Anna Dello Russo, Fashion Week is Like the Olympic Games: In a video interview on CNN, the Vogue Nippon editor talks about her love of Dolce & Gabbana and Lady Gaga, and admits that she changes outfits three times per day. Of her eccentric wardrobe choices, Russo says “Sometimes I look like a Christmas tree. But it’s okay!” {CNN} Follow Fashionista on Twitter or become a fan on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Posted: 24 Mar 2011 09:45 AM PDT LONDON–Stuart Vevers has cemented his new direction at Loewe by opening a boutique in London's prime luxury spot: Mayfair. It’s the brand's first new store in Europe since 2002. Having just shown a collection of covetable sixties-shaped buttery leather coats in Paris, Vevers took the time to personally show us around the new store, emphasizing his vision of contemporary luxury (central to Loewe's return as a go-to brand for all things leather). The store’s design, left in the hands of retail architect supremo Peter Marino (also behind Loewe’s new concept flagship in Valencia), emulates a jewel-box shape. It seamlessly translates the brands' trademark boxy accessories into a cove-like space filled with Amazona bags, some adorned with striking pink-fluro handles. Naturally for a luxury fashion house, the focus is on accessories, which means there’s little room left for womenswear. However, some key pieces from the recently launched Icons collection will be on display.
