Watch: Target and Opening Ceremony Celebrate GO International’s 5th Anniversary Posted: 10 Mar 2011 07:00 AM PST
Haven’t you heard? Target is re-releasing a slew of their most-loved Go International dresses in honor of the project’s 5th Anniversary. (Click here to see all 34 looks.) To celebrate, they’re hosting a shopping party tonight at the Ace Hotel with frequent collaborator Opening Ceremony. (We sooooo wish that the store’s owners/in-house designers Humberto Leon and Carol Lim would team up with Target to do their own diffusion line. But that’s another story….) Anyways, here’s the video Leon put together to celebrate the collection. It features the step dance team Bad News from the Bronx, wearing looks by Proenza, Tracey Feith, Luella, and more. And it’s pretty adorable. Follow Fashionista on Twitter or become a fan on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Mila Kunis on Miu Miu, Black Swan‘s Costume Drama and Her Next Projects Posted: 10 Mar 2011 06:00 AM PST PARIS–Mila Kunis was a hot ticket at yesterday’s Miu Miu show. She looked stunning considering she had only touched down in Paris five hours prior and told us she was “barely, barely” awake. No fewer than three EIC’s of major American glossies–Elle‘s Robbie Myers (with Joe Zee leading the way), Bazaar‘s Glenda Bailey and Marie Claire‘s Joanna Coles–stopped by to chat up the starlet. So expect to see her covering numerous glossies in the coming months. We figure at least one of these covers will be timed to the July release of her new movie Friends With Benefits costarring Justin Timberlake. (Guess it’s just a coincidence that her Black Swan costar Natalie Portman came out with No Strings Attached, a movie about friends with benefits, last month? Also in French No Strings Attached is called Sex Friends.) Next up, she tells us she’s going into production on a film called Ted with Mark Wahlberg, directed by Seth MacFarlane. “They’re both very funny,” she assures us regarding her next films. “They’re definitely not Black Swan.” Speaking of Black Swan, we asked if Kunis had any thoughts on her costumes in the film and that whole drama surrounding who got credit for them. Win an Adorable Dress From New Label Mono Lake and Fabricly! Posted: 09 Mar 2011 01:55 PM PST Fabricly, the “record label for fashion designers,” recently launched its latest collection, Mono Lake, at a SoHo celebration co-hosted by Fashionista. (There were Strokes involved.) We were so smitten with the dresses that we begged Fabricly and designer Molly Girard Coonan to sneak us a piece. The result? A color block, long sleeve fitted dress, which will be given away to one lucky reader. We’d pair it with thick black tights and booties. Oh, and maybe a shot of highlighter yellow. Love it? Enter to win by March 16, 2011 at 12:00 pm EST. Bonne chance! Follow Fashionista on Twitter or become a fan on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |

More Blake Lively Chanel Ads: Plus, Behind-The-Scenes With Karl Posted: 09 Mar 2011 01:00 PM PST By now we all know that Blake Lively is the ambassador for Chanel's new "Mademoiselle" line of handbags. More images, including some behind-the-scenes shots, were released today. The ad we showed you a few days ago is the best of the lot–the most dynamic. But there's no mistaking that Blake looks very Chanel in all of them. The dark tousled hair and absence of a perky smile adds to the sophisticated glam factor. And the picture of Blake smiling at Karl is really endearing. What do you suppose he's saying to her? Click through to see the rest of the photos. Miu Miu Fall 2011: In a League of Her Own Posted: 09 Mar 2011 12:26 PM PST PARIS–If Miuccia Prada had outfitted Madonna for her role as Mae Mordabito in A League of Their Own, it would look exactly Miu Miu fall 2011, presented today at the Palais d'léna. Right down to the slightly-turned-to-the-side baseball caps, sporty wide set pointy collars over wool knits, and printed ’40s day dresses. (It was a formative movie for me, ok?) Models hair was swept up at the sides in tortoise shell combs to match the ’40s style dresses in floral or bird prints set against tans and muted corals. When Prada’s baseball girl goes out swing dancing the ’40s silhouettes stay the same, only the backs of dresses are open, the shoulders and waists are wrapped with mink, and prints are painted on in glitter and sequins. The League of Their Own analogy holds only from the ankles up. Because while Mae wore saddle shoes out dancing and rabble-rousing, the Miu Miu girl for fall wears glittering platform heels that everyone is gonna want. Hailee Steinfeld Talks Prada and Personal Style At Miu Miu Posted: 09 Mar 2011 11:54 AM PST PARIS–At Miu Miu’s fall 2011 show this afternoon the label attracted a bevy of A-list starlets to their front row: Mila Kunis, Ginnifer Goodwin, Jennifer Lawrence, and reigning new princess of our best dressed lists, Hailee Steinfeld. The 15-year-old best supporting actress nominee–who is styled by the fabulous duo of Kemal & Karla–exploded onto the scene with her role in True Grit, and has proven that she’s got the style savvy to back up her newly minted status as starlet-in-demand wearing Miu Miu, Prada and Prabal Gurung dresses on the red carpet that are adorable and gasp, age appropriate too. Hollywood’s Most Powerful Stylists: The Complete List Posted: 09 Mar 2011 11:38 AM PST We’ve become huge fans of the Hollywood Reporter over the last few months, mostly due to Janice Min’s excellent makeover of the trade publication. Staffer Merle Ginsberg navigates the LA fashion scene with an entertaining mix of gossip, insider news, and general knowledge that is not only rare for the West Coast, but rare for fashion writing in general. So we were thrilled to see Ginsberg’s list of the 25 most powerful stylists in Hollywood covering this week’s issue. Rachel Zoe obviously ranks number one, with names like Nicole Chavez, Annabel Tollman, Brad Goreski, Leslie Fremar, and Kate Young rounding it out. See the full list below, and read the Zoe cover story here. Follow Fashionista on Twitter or become a fan on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |

Louis Vuitton Fall 2011: Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and More Walk Marc Jacobs’ “Fetish” Show Posted: 09 Mar 2011 09:11 AM PST Leave it to Marc Jacobs to put on the most lavish and possibly most expensive show of Paris fashion week for Louis Vuitton. The tent for the show at the Cour Carrée du Louvre was all in black and surrounded by big black balloons–a hint that something playful and naughty was to come. Inside a fleet of women dressed as chambermaids–white collars, black skirts, feather dusters–escorted editors and buyers to their seats and served coffee and champagne (whichever you prefer to start your day off with). The runway was more of a stage–a black glossy square with a set of three ornate old-fashioned cage elevators at the center. You can guess where this is going: models, all 67 of them (including Kate Moss, Raquel Zimmerman, Naomi Campbell and Amber Valletta), entered the runway from the elevators, which were operated, naturally, by uniformed older gentlemen who opened the door every time a model ascended.
